| Welcome back to a new and exciting year for you and the Illinois Drafting Educator's Association. The Executive board has been busy planning this year's CAD users day and fall workshop. This year we will again stay at the Holiday Inn Convention Center (located at #8 Traders Circle at Exit 165 off of I-55 and US-51). Call for room reservations for the Fall Workshop & CAD Users Day as soon as possible. There are a limited number of rooms reserved for the IDEA members. This year's program promises to equip you with teaching tools and helps to assist you in developing your course curriculum. The CAD users day will again be held on the ISU campus at Turner Hall on Thursday, November 14th. The CAD users program will feature a full day of CAD software demonstrations and hands-on opportunities for our members.

We are excited to report that the fall workshop will be held on Friday, November, 15th at the new Heartland Community College campus. Heartland has donated their facilities for our use during this event. Thanks to both Heartland and Illinois State University for their support.

The program of topics and speakers include; Connected and Collaborative with AutoCAD - J.C. Malitzke (Moraine Valley C.C.), Univesity of Wisconsin Architectural Program - Jim Decker, Tips and Tricks in AutoCAD and Plotting for AutoCAD - Jeff and Jerry Bartells, Chrysler's "Build Your Dream Vehicle" competition - Tim Bacak and 3-D Studio Max - Chip Finck and John Connolly.

We have a new experimental post-secondary design contest posted on the CONTESTS page we would like community college educators to review.

Also, for those using the newer version of America On Line Instant Messaging, we have a drafting related buddy icon you can load into your Instant Messenger that will come up on the person's screen you are conversing with.
